Dear Members, Players, Coaches and Supporters,

It is an enormous honour to be selected to represent this Club as President for the 2026/2027 season. My family have been connected to the Club for over 28 years and I, personally have been involved with our Mini Rugby Section for almost 20 years. The connection we have with this Community Club is taken very seriously by me and my family.  

For most of my adult life, I have volunteered in one capacity or another in the community.  I get as much out of it, if not more, than I put in.  I feel it is very important to give back to the community that we are a part of.  I hope I can do justice to the role of President and represent this Community Club in the very best way in the coming year.  As a club, our origins are in our local community. We have grown out of that community.  Our community is getting bigger and now includes Maynooth University as well.  We want to keep growing but still retain the very welcoming nature of a Community Club.

As people we all need connection with one another and MU Barnhall RFC provides that connection across all sections from Under 7s, Youths, Seniors, our Buffaloes and our retirees.  Hopefully we can assist in helping maintain that connection for people in an ever-busier world, fostering new friendships and alliances but still staying true to our community ethos along the way.

To all our players and coaches, mentors and support staff I wish you all the very best for the coming season as we continue to build upon the successes of our senior Men’s and Women’ teams along with the achievements of every other adult, youth and Mini rugby teams. Represent yourselves and our club colours on the pitch with pride and passion. There is a very rich history of people who have worn the jersey for MU Barnhall in the past and you are part of our history in the making by actively building the future for the next generation of players. May your talents and teamwork shine through in every match and training session. Let's embrace the challenges, celebrate the victories and support each other’s experience along the way.
 

At the start of this season, I would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank all our club volunteers who act on committees, as coaches and the others who work away tirelessly on our behalf in the background and all our club members who continue to contribute to the running of the club from day to day. Your contribution is greatly appreciated and acknowledged as the lifeblood of this club, and every achievement is built upon your efforts and dedication. 
 

May we, as a club, continue to grow and achieve distinction for years to come. 

 

So play hard, play fair, look after one another and remember: what happens on the pitch, stays on the pitch……. unless it was a spectacular try, kick or tackle!
